After moving to England in 2008 my preferred way of keeping in touch with my near and dear was by writing letters and postcards. Though this might seem like a very outdated method of communication in the era of the Internet, but there’s something very personal and precious about a handwritten letter – a quality you simply cannot find in an email or text message. 

The series An Image Says More Than a Thousand Words, But a Few Words from You Mean More Than Anything is a visual response to the emotions and memories the letters I received triggered, layered with images of the actual letters.

For this project I chose to print my images as solvent transfers to get the papery quality of the letters. This technique also makes every image handmade and unique, something that that the letters are as well.
