About
Ida Taavitsainen (b. 1987, Helsinki, Finland) is a MA Photography graduate from Royal College of Art in London. In her works she is interested in questions of presence and absence, distance and closeness, memories and family relations. She often works with analogue techniques and prints most of her work by hand in the darkroom.
Her work has been widely exhibited in Europe and Asia, including at The Finnish Museum of Photography and Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts in Japan. Her first book, The Memory of My Wardrobe, was published by Booth-Clibborn Editions in 2014. Her work is in the collections of Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts in Japan, The State Art Deposit Collection in Finland and The Talents Archive at Onassis Cultural Foundation in Greece.
